Truce with UPDS extended

NEW DELHI, Feb 4 – The ceasefire pact with the United People’s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) has been extended for another six months following discussion between the militant outfit, Centre and Assam Government.

It has been decided and mutually agreed to extend for a further period of six months up to July 7. Tripartite talks on the demands of UPDS are continuing, official sources said.

The outfit signed a cease-fire agreement with the Union Government on May 23, 2002.
