UPDS observes ‘martyrs’ day’

DIPHU, Dec 10: As a mark of respect to the leaders and cadres who lost their lives in the course of their armed struggle for creation of a separate land for Karbi people, the United People’s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) observed its 13th ‘‘martyrs’ day’’ in all its three designated camp recently in Karbi Anglong.
The day-long programme began with unfurling of half flag followed by homage to the martyrs, lightening of candles and parade demonstration. In Diphu designated camp the flag was unfurled by Lindok Ronghang, joint secretary of UPDS. At Deopani designated camp Wozaru Mukhrang, joint secretary of UPDS hoisted the flag while Lengbat Engleng, defence secretary, lighted the candle. At Rongbin, the headquarters of UPDS, the flag was unfurled by Akar Teron, ‘c-in-c’, UPDS.
This was informed by Munthi Parsik Langneh, publicity secretary of UPDS in a press release.
